 Abe's Sprint. 30,000mi+ and going.

Took all the junk off so it's faster and looks like it's rider, rude and crude.

There is a story here.. I originally sold this ped to a customer that rides all day and every day.

With the odometer showing 30 something thousand miles the clutch failed taking out most of the transmission in the process. Actually this could have been caught with an inspection at 10, 20 or even 30 thousand miles. The aluminum clutch shoe wore allowing the holding pin to come loose. Once that pin fell out it and some other parts ran through the transmission and messed up all the first and second gears. Upon inspection both clutches, the clutch hub and everything else in there needed to be replaced. The moped sat for a while until recently the engine was completely torn down and cleaned for inspection.

The clean engine parts were checked out and all looked good. The crank, piston, bore and even rings look great, if not perfect. Remember 30,000mi+. The engine was assembled and all the transmission parts replaced. Runs like a champ, starts first kick and rips! The cost?? Well, lets not go there. To do all the work, cleaning, looking over the engine and chassis not to mention the parts exceeds the price of a new TOMOS. I did it because this one seems like it should keep going. I also replaced the pedal arms, pedals, chain and sprockets just so it didn't look like a 30K bike. Oh, ya. I'm not sure when but the speedo drive gear got stuck and stopped working at 30K+mi. We don't know how many miles it actually has.

What did he do to keep is going so long? Cleaned the air filter, Type F in the tranny, Motul in the gas, changed the following at least one time; tires, tubes, rear wheel bearing, spark plug, chain and sprockets. I'm pretty sure he spent more on shoes than this ped.
